In power flow analysis, every modeled grid element in the base case (e.g. equipment like a transformer, breaker, line, etc.) is checked against its operational limits.
These limits represent the maximum flow an element can handle without failure.
When an element exceeds its rating in the simulated analysis, that monitored facility (piece of equipment) is identified as the limiting element.
