Introduction
PVcase Roof Mount streamlines data export and import, offering a smooth integration with PVsyst. This eliminates manual data entry, prevents inconsistencies, and avoids costly errors by reusing components across designs.
This article details how to export layouts from PVcase Roof Mount to PVsyst and how to import and export component settings within PVcase Roof Mount.
Export to PVsyst
To start exporting your layout to PVsyst, click Export to PVsyst, in the Actions menu.
You will have two options to choose from:
- Export by modules
- Export by groups
Export by modules
Each module is considered as an individual frame on PVsyst.
Exporting by modules is a more efficient and accurate method for widely spaced module layouts. It optimizes the process by treating each module distinctly, ideal for large or complex solar arrays.
Export by groups
The modules are grouped by row being separated by corridor gaps. Each group is considered as one table in PVsyst. Exporting by groups is a better option when the layout has a homogeneous shape, like rows of modules with the same sizes. PVsyst recommends working with bigger frames, which means exporting modules by groups.
Steps
The export process for both options is the same. To export your layouts to PVsyst:
- Click on Export to PVsyst
- Select the roof
- Press Space or Enter to continue
- Select Module or Groups as the export type
- Name the file and choose where to save it
- Click Save
Import to PVsyst
Importing the .PVC file with the roof model, shading objects, and modules into PVsyst offers significant advantages. It provides a more realistic 3D representation, enabling accurate near shading loss simulation crucial for detailed energy yield analysis. It also aids in developing a detailed stringing plan within PVsyst.
You can easily import the exported .PVC file into PVsyst by following the steps below:
1. Select the Near Shadings tab
2. Click Construction / Perspective
3. Click File and then
a. Select Import and Import a 3D scene (3DS, DAE, PVC)
b. Select your exported .PVC file
4. In the Import results pop-up window, PVsyst will automatically read the units that were used while creating the project in PVcase.
5. Click Ok
Export & import settings
You can easily reuse any component settings from any project thanks to the Import/export functionality in PVcase Roof Mount. To do so, use the Export settings / Import settings button in the ribbon.
Export settings
- Click Export settings
- Select the settings that you want to export from the modal
- Click Export and then Save, to save the settings file in your device
You can then import some or all of these settings to any of your projects.
Import settings
- Click Import settings
- Select a settings file (.PVsettings) from your device
- Select the settings that you want to import from the modal
Now the settings are included in your project. Module and inverter settings specifically are added as new Component library entries, from where you can retrieve them any time.
