This is a detailed guide to convert your drawing files to PVcase Roof Mount. You can use it as a starting point and reference to what is currently possible to convert because the Convert drawing functionality is in an early stage of development.
You can use the Convert drawing functionality to convert your PVsol files into PVcase entities, without having to recreate your project from scratch. After the conversion, you can continue to use other features in Roof Mount for detailed design.
You are able to convert the following from PVsol files:
- Flat and pitched roofs
- Roof objects
- Flush mounted modules
If you have a Flat South or E-W system, you can convert the roofs and roof objects and then use PVcase Roof Mount generation tool to generate your layout.
We can convert overhangs on roofs but the base of the building will be extended to match the length or width of the overhang.
Step 1: Save the .pvprj file from PVsol
To use the Convert to PVcase tool for PVsol, we require PVsol’s .pvprj files. We do not support conversion of .dxf files exported from PVsol.
Step 2: Convert roofs, roof objects and modules to PVcase Roof Mount
1. From the ribbon menu, go to Convert Drawing.
2. Select PVsol as the drawing type.
3. Once the file is uploaded successfully, you will see roofs, roof objects and modules that are compatible and ready to be converted.
4. Press Enter to have convertible objects automatically converted.
Step 3: Verify your drawing information after conversion
After you convert your drawing to PVcase Roof Mount, verify that all drawing information is converted correctly. Details such as layout, module tilt angle and other parameters can impact your detailed design when they aren't imported correctly.
If something looks off with your converted drawing, like the module's orientation or angle, try these steps:
- Press Ctrl + Z to undo your last action.
- Adjust the settings and try converting again.
If the problem persists, please send us your file and describe the issue you've encountered at support@pvcase.com or at our live support chat.
FAQs
Can I use only parts of the solution, for example, only convert modules or only convert shading objects, and then continue to use other features of PVcase Roof Mount?
No, for our PVsol feature, we will convert everything we detect as convertible in the file for you. If we find a roof that is not convertible, Roof Mount will also not convert its roof objects and modules.
What if I have a .dxf file from PVsol?
We do not support .dxf files exported from PVsol, please use the .pvprj file instead.
Can I edit the roof after I’ve used Convert to PVcase Roof Mount?
At the moment, it is best not to modify the roof after it has been converted to a PVcase Roof Mount with this feature.
Why does Roof Mount detect some objects in my .pvprj file but don’t list them as ‘Ready to Convert’?
If you see the objects shown like the image, it means Roof Mount does not support those objects in your file. At the moment, we do not support the following:
Objects | What we do not support from PVsol |
---|---|
Roofs | Half-hipped roofs Gabled roofs Monsart roofs Hipped roofs Tented roofs |
Modules | Flat South E-W |
