The PVcase Components Database is a centralized, cloud-based repository that serves as a definitive source for solar component data within the PVcase product ecosystem. Its architecture allows organizations to maintain consistent technical specifications, supporting data accuracy and accessibility throughout the solar project lifecycle, from initial feasibility assessment to detailed electrical engineering.
Why use a Components Database?
Traditional solar design workflows are often hindered by manual data entry and disconnected information. Previously, component specifications were stored in individual DWG files, leading to unreliable workarounds such as exporting "pvSetting files," emailing manufacturers for.PAN/.OND files, or cross-referencing static PDF tables. The Components Database addresses these issues by providing PVcase users direct access to components in PVcase Ground Mount, including those that require reference components before final specifications are available. This platform provides a technical infrastructure for:
- Solar Designers: To eliminate manual re-entry and quickly access approved equipment.
- Electrical Engineers: To perform inverter sizing directly within the PVcase environment.
- Procurement Managers: To manage library standards and ensure only company-approved components are used in active designs.
Users can now search a centralized library of modules and inverters, filter for specific equipment, and apply it directly to their design with one click
Creating new components
- Log in to the Components Database with your account credentials.
- Head over to the PVcase Component Database to find pre-built components.
- Go to the top right corner to upload your PAN/OND files or PDF datasheet:
- Click Batch upload to create multiple components at once.
- Click Add new component to create a single component.
- Your uploaded components will be included in the list.
Searching for Components
Once components are added, you can find them using the search tool or view and confirm their properties.
- To view details: Click on any component to view its high-level parameters.
- To search: Use the search bar to look up components by Manufacturer, Model, Power, or other supported parameters.
Please note that the search bar does not scan all parameters. To locate your specific component, use one of the supported fields listed below:
- Inverters: manufacturer, model, source, added by, AC nominal voltage, total number of MPPTs
- Modules: manufacturer, model, module type, source, added by, nameplate power, dimensions (Length/Width/Thickness)
Modifying or removing components
You can manage components from the main list view or from inside the component's detailed page.
How to edit a component:
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Edit.
- Modify the necessary parameters.
- Click Save changes.
How to remove a component:
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Delete.
How to restore a component:
- Head over to the Activity log in the top-right corner.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Click Restore component.
In PVCase Ground Mount:
- Open your PVcase Ground Mount in the CAD environment.
- Navigate to the Frame & Park settings or Electrical devices tab in the Electrical design window.
- Head over to the Frame creation tab, select the manufacturer and desired module or inverter from the dropdown menu.
- The tool will automatically insert the component's mechanical and electrical details from the Component Database.
- Click on the “i” icon to view the properties applied to the selected module/inverter.
Core Features & Functionalities
Global OOTB (Out-of-the-Box) DNV Components
Access a pre-populated library of generic PVcase components and verified data from industry partners like DNV.
Duplicate Prevention
The system prevents inaccurate or cluttered data entries, ensuring the library remains a high-fidelity resource. The automated duplicate detection mechanism identifies and blocks duplicated component files from being saved during the creation or upload process:
Activity Log & Governance
Track every edit or deletion of a component with a comprehensive, read-only Activity Log that automatically tracks all component modifications, creations, and deletions.
In PVcase Ground Mount, you can also receive proactive notifications when library components are updated, ensuring transparency across multi-departmental teams.
Managing Components:
There are a few methods for populating and managing the library:
- Manual Entry: Define modules and inverters by filling out specialized forms covering all critical electrical and mechanical parameters.
- PAN/OND Uploads: Import industry-standard files via individual or batch upload.
- PDF datasheet: Upload manufacturers’ datasheets either individually or in batches, and our AI-powered PDF parser will handle the rest.
Terms and Liability
PVcase offers high-quality data through trusted partners like DNV and assists users in creating components from their PAN/OND or PDF datasheets. However, users are responsible for verifying component accuracy and suitability. PVcase disclaims liability for any issues arising from incorrect data, and users should always cross-check parameters before finalizing project designs.
