Early integration of grid infrastructure is vital for solar project planning. It helps locate ideal connection points, estimate costs, ensure compliance, and design efficient, reliable layouts, leading to smoother development and preventing future problems.
This article introduces you to the main steps and methods of adding grid infrastructure in PVcase Prospect.
Add grid
On the left side of your project map, you’ll see a sidebar menu.
- Click Add Grid
- Select grid type from the dropdown
- Select a method to add grid infrastructure
In the articles that follow, you'll see the detailed steps for each method. Here's a quick overview:

Add grid from layer. This method allows you to:
- select from existing layers
- import form KMZ or shapefile
- use previously-saved grid infrastructure from other projects
- filter and bulk select grid infrastructure
- Add grid near Project features. This method allows you to search by proximity to saved subs, lines, or parcels on the current project.

Add grid by Drawing. You can draw your own power lines or substations if not available from other resources.
