Quickly manage multiple map features in PVcase Prospect. This article shows you how to efficiently select, filter, and save groups of assets to streamline your project workflow.
Overview
Easily add multiple substations or grid lines to your project at once by using the Select by Polygon tool. This tool allows you to draw a custom shape on the map to select several substations or lines from specific grid layers within that area, and then filter and save all or just a subset of those assets based on their attributes.
The Select by Polygon tool is available on the following layer types:
- DG
- Capacity
- Grid
- LMP
- Client-provided grid layers (Energy Acuity, Ventyx, ABB Velocity Suite, etc)
- Third-party substations and lines layers (EIA/HILFD; OpenStreetMap)
To use it, follow the steps below.
Step 1. Turn the layer on
From the map, click on the Layer Catalog icon to expand the Layer Catalog.
Locate the desired layer and check the box to activate the layer on the map.
Step 2. Select by Polygon
Under Map Tools, use the Select by Polygon tool to select data in bulk from the layer.
Using your cursor, trace a polygon around the grid infrastructure you'd like to select.
A table will pop up from the bottom of the page with a list of each of the selected substations or lines.
Step 3. (Optional) Filter selected grid infrastructure
If you want, you can filter the selection of data based on any attributes/columns available in the source data. These attributes will vary depending on the data source but may include info like voltage, headroom capacity, owner, etc.
Click the Filter icon (next to Add to Project).
Filter off of any criteria, as desired.
Step 4. Add selected grid infrastructure
Check the box in the header line of the table to select assets (all or a subset if a filter has been applied).
Once assets are selected, the Add to Project button will turn from gray to blue.
Click Add to Project to add the desired grid infrastructure to the project.
Now you're ready to Add Land.
