Easily add grid infrastructure to your project in PVcase Prospect using existing map layers. This article explains how to select and import grid data from available layers to enhance your project planning.
Select method
From the Add Grid option in the sidebar, select from Layer.
Then continue with the steps outlined below.
Step 1. Choose layer source
When selecting the grid infrastructure from a layer, you have several source options:
From existing layer
Applicable layers will automatically display in the drop down list; the layers available will vary by region and company. Layers may include:
- public national datasets
- local hosting capacity maps
- integrated company proprietary layers
- DG (premium data)
- Capacity (premium data)
From other projects
View grid infrastructure that has been previously saved on another project in your company.
From file (KML, KMZ, or Shapefile)
Import grid infrastructure from a .kml, .kmz, or .shp file. Any grid data you import is only available within your company's instance of AO and is never visible to other clients.
Drag the file and drop it over the blue area or select Browse files to choose from your computer's directory.
Step 2. Select features and add them to the project
You can select different features
- from the map (individual)
- by using Apply boundary (bulk)
From the Map
On the map, select individual lines or substations. Then click Add to Project.
Apply boundary
Draw a desired area OR select a boundary from an applicable layer.
Draw Area on Map
Use polygon cursor hand to draw desired region on the map.
Close the shape to see a list to see a list of all features in that boundary from the selected source layer.
Before clicking Add to Project, filter the desired substations or power lines.
Select an applicable layer
After selecting a layer from the list, use cursor to select a region on the map.
In the pop-up, choose Select/Filter to see a list of all features in that boundary from the selected source layer.
Check individual rows or top checkbox to select all; then click Add to Project.
Layer Catalog with the sidebar open
When layer functions are active in the sidebar, all other layers in the Layer Catalog become view-only.
To temporarily access a catalog layer from the map (e.g., to view a feature's metadata):
- Toggle off the Sidebar Enabled notice at the top of the Layer Catalog.
Note that disabling view-only means layers from the sidebar will not be clickable on the map.
To gain more viewing area in the Layer catalog, you can minimize the Sidebar Enabled notice by using the control bar in the upper right corner.
