Set a maximum slope value in PVcase Prospect so that only areas meeting your terrain criteria are included in the buildable area analysis.
Elevation / Slope data source
For the United States Buildable area analysis we use the best-available digital elevation models from USGS as the primary source to process slope analysis.
Resolution of the elevation models ranges from 1m to 10m depending on the region.
Regions outside the United States use the Esri terrain source as their primary data source. The United States uses the Esri source as a backup in the event that the USGS source server is unavailable. In the United States, the quality of the USGS and Esri sources are essentially the same; the Esri data is a few months older.
In the slope analysis pop-up, you can see the source used when analyzing the parcel by checking the slope_source value.
Which resolution was likely used in the slope analysis?
Check out the layer USGS resolution coverage in the US Nationwide Layers under the Topography layer category. If there are multiple resolutions available at the same location, our analysis will reference the best-available at the time of the analysis.
Buildable Area analysis slope calculations
We use gdaldem slope to calculate from a DEM raster.
Slope inputs/outputs are represented as a percentage, not degrees.
