Manually adjust areas to make them buildable if they are not actually exclusion areas. The sections below describe the steps to follow.
Go to the parcel asset details page
To manually mark hazards and exclusion areas, you must first go to the asset details page. This is a mandatory step, as the process will not work on a project's page.
Once on the asset details page, you have two options to select a parcel:
- From the project map
- From a project or Portfolio view
From the project map
- Select the parcel on the map that you want to amend
- In the parcel pop-up window, choose Select
The parcel asset detail page will automatically open in a new tab.
From a project or Portfolio view
- Expand the asset table in the bottom drawer
- Navigate to the Parcels tab
- Select the link with the parcel name (not the project)
The parcel asset detail page will automatically open in the same tab.
Trace the area around the exclusion area
Use drawing tools to trace or copy the exclusion from a layer.
- Display object(s) for tracing. There are two ways to do that:
- Enable a layer from the catalog
- View all polygons associated with a given parcel (parcel boundary, Constraint Map drawings, etc.) from the Drawings tab on the left panel
- Enable the drawing tools: Map Tools > Draw/ Add Marker
- Click the free-form polygon icon from the toolbar
- Using your cursor, trace out a polygon around the hazard on the map that you want to mark as buildable.
Mulit-select the user polygon and buildable area polygon in map sidebar
Select the buildable area polygon and the polygon area that should be added as buildable.
- Use a multi-select click (CTRL/command + click) to select the buildable area analysis polygon on the map
You should be able to see it in the selection menu on the top right of the map to confirm it's selected (see pink arrows in the picture below)
- Continue to hold down the CTRL/Command key while using your cursor to click on the polygon(s) that you want to make buildable.
If the user-drawn polygons are hidden below the buildable area polygon, you can temporarily hide the buildable area polygon to access the polygons below (toggle the visibility of any drawing that is overlapping the drawing you're attempting to click).
Run Composite geometry
- In the map sidebar, click the Design button
- Select build composite geometry from the design dropdown menu
This will display radio buttons next to each polygon in the sidebar.
- Select the button next to each User polygon to include it
- Select the button next to Buildable area to include it
- Leave the button next to the parcel name empty
- Click Build
After clicking Build a pop-up will appear (pictured below)
- Click Update Buildable Area button in pop-up
This will finish updating the buildable acreage calculation and the new buildable area will be displayed on the map and in the calculated acreage section on the left-side of the asset details window.
The new calculated acreage will also be reflected on the project (you may need to refresh when navigating back to the project).
