Group parcels together with the Super parcel task to view and analyze individual parcel boundaries as a larger site area.
What is the purpose of grouping parcels?
Sometimes it can be helpful to consider parcels as part of a larger grouping of parcels (i.e. a super parcel). There are 3 common scenarios in which to use the Super parcel tool:
- When all parcels on a project are part of a future site area and should be analyzed as a single area (ignoring internal property boundaries and only adding setbacks around the site boundary itself).
- When a subset of parcels on a project are part of a parcel group that should be analyzed as a single area — e.g. one land owner owns multiple contiguous parcels which should be analyzed together.
- When comparing different site configurations/scenarios to see total buildable acreage for different configurations.
When you create a super parcel, the original property boundaries and land owner information will still be preserved on the account, but there will be a new parcel boundary added around the group of parcels.
This super parcel can be used in the buildable area analysis calculations so you can get an accurate buildable acreage for the full contiguous area.
How to create a super parcel
There are a few ways to create a super parcel, all of which require you to first select the desired parcels. We will begin by explaining how to select parcels directly from the project map.
If you would rather select parcels using the parcels list, please proceed directly to that section.
Create a super parcel from the project map
Select parcels on the map via one of the following methods:
Select a subset of parcels
If only merging some parcels on a project (and not all parcels on a project), use one of the following two methods to select the parcels:
-
Multi-select click
- Windows: Hold down CTRL + click the parcel marker for each parcel you want to select on the map
- Mac: Hold down Command + click the parcel marker for each parcel you want to select on the map
- Polygon-select parcels on map
- Map Tools
- Select by Polygon
- Saved Assets & Drawings
- Draw polygon around desired parcels to select them in the map sidebar
Select all parcels
- On the project map, in the Map sidebar, click Menu
- At the bottom of the menu dropdown, click Select all parcels
This will automatically select all parcels on the project.
Once parcels have been selected in the Map sidebar:
- Click the See Actions button in the map sidebar
- Click Asset Tasks
- Select Create Super Parcel
- In the pop-up, enter the desired name for the super parcel
- Click Run
This will create a new parcel boundary on the map denoted with a thicker blue line and a light blue super parcel marker.
The super parcel will automatically be added to the Parcels list below the project map.
- Lot size will be automatically calculated
- Buildable Area (Acres) will not be automatically calculated. Run the Buildable area analysis tool to calculate the total buildable area for the new super parcel.
Create a super parcel from the Parcels list
Alternatively, you can create a super parcel directly from the parcels list:
- On the project, go to the Parcels list below the project map
- Click the check boxes next to each parcel to select it for the super parcel
- Once all desired parcels have been selected, click the gray See Actions button (far-right side of the parcels list)
- Select Asset Tasks
- Select Create Super Parcel
- In the pop-up, enter the desired name for the super parcel
- Click Run
The super parcel will automatically be added to the Parcels list below the project map.
- The lot size will be automatically calculated.
- The buildable area (acres) will not be automatically calculated. Run the Buildable area analysis tool to calculate the total buildable area for the new super parcel.
