Energy simulation enhancements 
 

Customize loss assumptions for Energy simulation tool

Previously, we defaulted loss assumptions used in our energy simulation models. Now, you can adjust the loss assumptions that our energy simulation models should use to better reflect your project site’s characteristics. 

Energy production results in hourly breakdowns

The Energy simulation tool now provides results in hourly breakdowns, for users to better match a project site’s consumption data to production value and understand design viability.

Export Energy Simulation results to .CSV

You can now download Roof Mount’s Energy Simulation results to a .csv file to do further analysis for your sales proposals. The report includes additional information to support analysis: 
 

• Global Horizontal Irradiance
• Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance
• Direct Normal Irradiance
• Direct Horizontal Irradiance
• Ambient Temperature
• Wind Speed
• Effective In-plane irradiance

• Effective AC Power Output 

  

String assignment to leverage all MPPTs 

To optimize your system design and ensure maximum inverter utilization, we've added a new string assignment method: Equal distribution.

The previous Chronological option filled MPPTs sequentially, often resulting in MPPT inputs being left unused.

 The new Equal distribution method prioritizes utilizing all available MPPTs by following these steps:

1. Initial Balance: Assigning one string to every available MPPT
2. Balanced Filling: Distributing the remaining strings across all MPPTs, prioritizing strings with the same length for optimal performance
3. Proximity Optimization: Grouping strings that are physically closest to the inverter 

Custom stringing to connect the opposite side for East West layouts

To speed up your custom stringing process for East West layouts, you can now enable Roof Mount to automatically string the opposite sides for an East-West layout. With the feature turned on, when you string the East modules together, the West modules will automatically be strung together if we find the same (or more) number of corresponding modules.

For example, if there are 19 East modules strung together and there are 19 corresponding West modules, we will create a string with the 19 West modules. You will no longer have to string the West side manually. 
If there are 19 East modules, and 20 West modules, we will string 19 West modules together and leave one out. If there are 19 East modules, but only 18 West modules found, we will not string the West side together.

Add Offsets when creating ridges

Previously, you had to manually add restriction zones to ridges after they’ve been added. Now we’ve made it simpler by adding an Offset, m input field when creating ridges, so the offsets will be automatically created when ridges are added. If you input 1m, software will create an offset 1m on the left and right of the ridge line, totaling 2 meters. Layout generation will avoid this offset area.

Minor updates & bug fixes

• DC info on inverter card is now dynamically updated
• Copied buildings now are independent and no longer linked to original PV area
