You can automatically search for parcels based on proximity to point(s) of interest and desired parcel size.
This article guides you through the process of searching for land near existing project features, specifying the desired size, conducting the search, and finally, adding the chosen parcels to your project.
Conduct a parcel search
You can conduct a parcel search in just a few steps, including setting acreage, defining search area buffers around features, and optional filtering by owner name.
Step 1. Open the parcel search form
Click Add Land in the left sidebar.
Fill in minimum acres per parcel. Fill in max acres, if desired.
Contiguous Land with Same Owner: Check this box if to allow smaller parcels that are contiguous (touching on the map) and that have the same owner.
Step 2. Choose what to search around
Check the box next to each feature (subs, lines, or other parcels) you want to search for land around.
Enter Search Area distance for each type of feature you want to search around (buffer distance around each feature of that type)
For example, if a project has 10 substations, it will search this distance around each of the 10 substations.
Search around one type of feature
You can only search around features that have been saved to a project. Want to search around a grayed out feature? First, add one or more to the project: Add land or add grid.
Search around multiple types of features at once
You can also check the boxes next to various features at the same time.
Learn more about searches around multiple types of features in Multi-criteria search: AND vs. OR.
Step 3 (optional). Limit search by Owner Name
You can locate parcels based on known landowner name.
Learn more in Search for parcels by Owner Name.
Step 4. Review the expected parcel count
Click Search.
Once the search is complete, the number of found parcels will appear right above the Add to Project button.
If the number of found parcels is higher than desired, try one of the following options:
- Reduce the Search Area distance.
- Increase the Min Acres to further limit the parcel search (or add a max acres limit).
You can click Search as many times as desired.
Parcels are not actually pulled in or counted towards the annual parcel usage allotment until the next step.
Add parcels to project
Click Add to Project to finish adding parcels to the project.
Parcels will count towards parcel allotment.
International
In support of our growing international customer base, when adding land to projects, you can specify search areas and specify parcel sizes in metric system units.
