Export a site from Prospect and upload it into Ground Mount (in seconds) to start a terrain-based design with the PVcase Ground Mount export.
Overview
PVcase Ground Mount is leading solar design software. We're excited to help developers streamline the end-to-end siting process together.
If you're using both PVcase Prospect and Ground Mount, you'll have access to the new export format which includes site boundaries, constraints/buildable area, and high resolution terrain data.
What are the benefits of this export format?
- You don't need to manually relabel folders. PVcase Ground Mount knows how to read our file structure.
- You get a head start on more accurate designs with our high resolution terrain data.

How it works
Before you start
First, you need to create a project in PVcase Prospect and run the Buildable area analysis.
Currently, you can export a maximum of 30 parcels for terrain data. If you have a larger site, apply one of these options first:
- Delete unnecessary parcels to get to 30 parcels or less.
- Create a new project with just the target parcels (if 30 parcels or less)
- Create a super parcel of the site area. Then, follow the steps below:
- Run a Buildable area analysis on the super parcel
- Go to super parcel asset detail page
- Export PVcase file from asset detail page
Export the site using the PVcase Ground Mount Export
- Click the blue Export button and then PVcase Ground Mount
The export includes terrain data by default if slope analysis has been run in the Buildable area analysis for the site. Uncheck Export terrain data box, if you don't need it.
See Project or Parcel KML/KMZ export for an explanation of the other PVcase Ground Mount export settings.
- Click Export to download the export file with the site area and terrain data.
Import the site into PVcase Ground Mount
- Open PVcase Ground Mount. Make sure you have Ground Mount version 2.37 or later.
- Use the Import Prospect Data button to import the file.
- Choose desired units under Layout generation settings.
