Export project layers or drawing objects as KML or KMZ files. This article includes step-by-step instructions for selecting, configuring, and downloading your exports.
Introduction
You can export a project or specific parcel asset as a KML, including all constraint maps and drawings including:
- Substation and power line assets
- Parcel boundaries and parcel data (land owner, parcel ID/APN, lot size)
- Constraint map drawings including exclusion, intersection, and overlay only, and the buildable area polygons
- User drawings (e.g. any drawings from the project like copied geometries from layers, buffers, etc.)
If you're looking for a KML file specifically for PlantPredict, visit our article on PlantPredict KML Export.

KML Export Settings
Change which data is exported in the project KML by adjusting these optional settings, if desired. The same settings are used for PVcase Ground Mount export.
What should be included in this export?
There are various options you can enable to control what will be included in the export.
- Buildable Area and Prescan Results: Enabling this option causes Buildable area analysis and Prescan results that already exist in the project to be included in the exported file. Enabling this option does not prompt these analyses to run.
- As shown in Constraint map legend: Enabling this option causes the export to respect any toggling done in the Constraint map legend for Buildable area and Prescan results.
- Markers: Select this option to include point marker labels — such as those for parcels, substations, and power plants — in the exported file.
- User Drawings: Select this option to include any manually created polygons, lines, or points in the export. This covers elements drawn with map tools, copied, or generated through other operations, such as creating a buffer.
Other options
- Ignore table filters (Project KML Export Only): If you select this option, the KML export will disregard any filters applied to the Parcel, Power Lines, Substations, and Power Plants tables within the project. If you don't this option, the export will respect and use the existing filtering on these tables.
-
Folder structure: Use this option to alter how parcel information is grouped within the KML file structure.
- By object type: This option separates parcel information according to object type, such as Parcel Boundary and Parcel Marker.
- By landowner and parcel: This option separates parcel information firstly by the owner of the parcel, and secondly by the name of the parcel.
Export a subset of project data as KML
When you only require a portion of the data from a larger project, you can export a subset of that data.
