Create a copy of an existing project to create different site layouts/versions, copy a project to a new state if it was accidentally created in the wrong state team, or create a subproject.
Create a copy of an existing project
Important
Trying to compare buildable area analysis parameters by creating copies of a project? Hold on! The buildable area analysis constraint maps/calculations are saved to the parcel record itself, so re-running the analysis on the same parcel in a copy of a project will also update the buildable area analysis for that parcel on all projects. To compare different parameters, try exporting the data before re-running the analysis for easier comparison.

Copy part of a project
There are two methods to create subprojects:
- From the project map
- From the asset table
The first method is ideal if you'd like to create a subproject containing multiple types of assets (substations, lines, parcels and power plants). The second method is ideal if you'd like to create a subproject containing only one type of asset.
Method 1: From the project map (polygon-select)
- Apply filters to the asset table (optional)
- Click Map Tools > Select by Polygon > Saved Assets and Drawings
- Select what you want to copy into the new project
- In the Map Selection box, click See Actions
- Click Create Project from Selection
- Enter a name for your new project and click Run.
Method 2: From the Asset table
- Filter the desired asset type (parcels, substations, lines, or power plants) to define the scope for the subproject
- Select filtered results
- Click See Actions > Create Project from Selection
- Enter a name for your new project and click Run
