Create a custom buffer around lines, subs, markers, polylines and polygons for a variety of uses.
Create a buffer polygon
- Identify the object you'd like to create a buffer around. In this case, let's focus on a polyline.
- Right-click the object on the map
- In the pop up, click on the Create Buffer section to expand the input fields
- In the Create Buffer section, input the buffer distance and select the desired unit in the dropdown
- Click Create to generate a buffer polygon on the map
You can create a buffer around most objects on the map including drawings (polylines, polygons, markers etc) and assets (transmission or distribution lines, substations, parcels etc).
How can creating a buffer help you?
- Run a custom parcel search around a point of interest on a project.
- Create a buffer around a hazard from a layer that's not included in the Buildable Area analysis constraints (like a state specific layer) and manually remove that hazard from buildable area.
- Create a visual reference for distance on the map.
