Quickly check the distance between a line and a parcel or see how big an area is on the map. The measuring tools provide a fast way to get these dimensions.
Measure distance or area
- From any map in the platform, click on Map Tools
- Select Measure in the dropdown
- Select Area or Distance
- In the drawing toolbar, select the type of measurement you want to calculate.
- Pick the line tool to measure distance or select one of the polygon tools to measure area.
The measurement will appear on the map in real time.
- Double-click to complete the line or polygon.
Measure additional areas on the map as desired.

Delete a measurement
- Click on the drawing/measurement on the map. If multiple tabs appear in the pop up, make sure to select the desired tab.
- Click the red trash icon to delete.
Change unit of measurement
To temporarily change the unit of measurement:
- Click on the measurement on the map. In the top right corner of the map, the measurement will appear.
- Double-click the small unit text and change the unit type.
Default units of measurement
Want different default units of measurement? You can adjust your default settings in your user profile.
- Click your name in the top-right app header, select User Profile.
- Under the Settings dropdown, change default units as desired
Display measurements for user-added drawings
After drawing a shape on the map using the Draw tool (in Map Tools), turn on measurements by toggling the measure option at the top of the screen.
